Things you don't want to hear on a Monday morning while sitting in an ERJ 145

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I've just been informed that the air traffic control radar for the New York area has just gone down, along with 2 of the primary communication channels. That means we're not going to be leaving anytime soon.

Air Traffic Control expects the delays to be Extensive. Frankly folks, "Extensive" is code for "we have no idea how long it will be." I can't tell you any more than that, but I ask that you sit back, relax, and I'll keep you updated as things progress."
I should write a "Day in the life of consulting" post that is just composed of vignettes like this.
