I think what really set this guy off was not the loss of his guitar - it was the complete indifference to everyone he spoke to. People who don't care, and don't communicate that they care, about what is important to customers, are far too common in business. It's narcissism.
Way to blow, United.

So true. United employees don't even try to pretend they care. I fly every week and go to extrordinary lengths to avoid flying United whenever I can.

Employees' treatment of customers is often related to how they themselves are treated by the employer. Whenever I see one of these stories, it makes me wonder what's really going on-in this case, does United somehow attract an unusual percentage of indifferent and incompetent employees, or do they have the special ability to develop these qualities in people who would otherwise be good employees?
